When there is a group field trip planned, please wait for the group
coordinator and enter the event as a group.
Click on this link for a copy of general guidelines for attending a field trip.
Who is in charge of planning field trips? YOU are! That is, any CHEC
member who would like to plan a field trip is not only welcomed, but
encouraged, to do so! If your family is going on a field trip or hears of a cool
place to visit, consider setting up a field trip open to the entire group or
your small group. If it is interesting to you, there will likely be others who are
looking for the same thing. When planning a field trip, please send pertinent
information to the news coordinator (jeri@checnews.org).
Tips for coordinating a field trip:
1. Contact the field trip destination to determine times available, parameters
involved: appropriate ages, cost, what is available to be seen, what to
expect, any requirements they have, limits to number attending.
2. Choose a time and day best for you (you will never reach consensus with
everyone interested in attending!).
3. Contact the news coordinator with the following information:
Name of destination,
date and time,
appropriate ages,
cost of attending,
number limit (if applicable),
time and place to meet for carpooling,
website of destination (if applicable),
information regarding what to expect,
your contact information.
Please personally relay this information to the news coordinator even if the
planning has occurred through our Yahoo loop! Include your email address
in your email so the RSVPs can be sent to you directly. Try for at least a
month lead time so people have a chance to plan and all members have an
opportunity to hear of the field trip.
4. Remember to send a thank-you note!
